Through a blend of scientific, informative, and entertaining displays, it introduces knowledge about water, its status and distribution, overview of water diversion projects such as the "South-North Water Transfer Project", household water conservation tips, production process of tap water, the implementation of water conservation efforts in Tianjin, principles and applications of water-saving technologies, all emphasizing the theme "Water is the Source of Life".

Tianjin Water Saving Science and Technology Museum

Tianjin, as a resource-dependent city, faces water scarcity issues, relying mainly on diversion from the Yangtze River, Haihe River, and emergency diversion from the Yellow River. The contradiction between "reliance, singularity, and fragility" of urban water supply is prominent. The situation of regional water shortage is extremely severe, and water scarcity has become the most urgent, direct, and main resource constraint for Tianjin's economic and social sustainable development. The Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Government attach great importance to the development, utilization, conservation, and protection of water resources. They have always regarded water conservation as a long-term strategic measure throughout the entire process of economic and social development. In order to improve the efficiency of water resource utilization and enhance the awareness of cherishing and protecting water resources among all sectors of society, the Tianjin Water Affairs Bureau established the Tianjin Water Saving Science and Technology Museum in March 2010 as a window and base for water education, dissemination of water conservation knowledge, promotion of water-saving technologies, and dissemination of the concept of scientific and civilized water use. It has been successively named as the "Tianjin Municipal Popular Science Education Base", "National Popular Science Education Base", "National Primary and Middle School Water Saving Education and Social Practice Base", "Tianjin Civilized Unit", "Tianjin Water Affairs Bureau Youth Civilization Award", and "National Water Education Base", among other honorary titles.

The Tianjin Water Saving Science and Technology Museum has developed a water education model tailored to its own characteristics. Relying on museum resources, it conducts water education through science popularization exhibitions, large-scale events, and science popularization lectures, effectively disseminating water-saving knowledge and greatly enhancing public awareness of scientific and civilized water use. First, it organizes units such as government agencies, enterprises, and schools to visit and receive water education. Second, large-scale water education theme activities related to water love, water saving, water conservation, and water protection are organized to commemorate World Water Day, China Water Week, Urban Water Conservation Promotion Week, Science and Technology Week, and Science Popularization Day, attracting extensive participation from the general public and achieving good results in water conservation education. Third, it conducts paired co-construction activities to enhance the strength of water education and promote water conservation. Fourth, it conducts series of activities to promote water-saving knowledge in schools, offering "water-saving lectures" in more than ten schools including Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Hanggu Ninth Middle School, and Tianjin Center Primary School, widely promoting the concept of scientific and civilized water use on campuses.
